| MISSION
Licking County Christian Academy is a ministry of
the Newark Baptist Temple, an independent Baptist church. LCCA is
also a member of the Buckeye Christian School Association (BCSA)
and the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS). LCCA offers
high quality Christian education for grades K-12.
Licking County Christian Academy is dedicated to
assisting parents in their God-given responsibility to develop
in their children the intellectual, the emotional, the social,
and the physical, as well as the spiritual capabilities with the
goal of being “conformed
to the image of His Son.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9, Romans 8:29).
VISION
The vision of Licking County Christian Academy is
for young people to mature in their Christian lives so that they
may do “the work of the ministry” and “edify”
other believers. (Ephesians 4:12).
PURPOSE
Man was created in the image of God. When Adam and
Eve sinned, that image, although not destroyed, was severely marred.
The goal or purpose of Christian Education is the lifelong process
to restore that marred image. True Christian Education involves
the development of the intellectual, the emotional, the social,
and the physical, as well as the spiritual capabilities with the
goal of being “conformed to the image of His Son” (Romans
8:29). Formal schooling is only one facet of this process. Although
the primary emphasis is on the intellectual or academic, it is
the purpose of LCCA to develop all of the above areas in each student.
OBJECTIVES
To provide a sound academic education taught from
a thoroughly Christian view of God, man, and the world.
To uphold the Bible as the absolute authority and standard on which
all aspects of the Christian life are based.
To lead each student, not only to a personal knowledge of Christ
as true Saviour, but also to a daily walk, fellowship, and commitment
to Him.
To teach a proper respect and submission to authority with the
goal of developing self-discipline in each student.
To encourage students to think clearly, logically, and independently.
To develop mastery of the tools of learning and communication.
To build an academic foundation for the future whether in a vocation
or further educational pursuits.
To instill a love and understanding of our nation and its heritage
so that students will mature into strong citizens.
To develop intellectual, physical, and technical skills necessary
for vocational competency and advancements.
To encourage an appreciation for and opportunities in speech, music,
and art.
To offer opportunities to participate in wholesome forms of recreation
and sporting events.
PHILOSOPHY
It has been said that the “heart” of education
is the education of the “heart.” There is no area where
this principle is more critical than in the matter of personal
salvation in Jesus Christ. A person can know about salvation, he
can comprehend and understand, he can even believe that salvation
is available, but until that belief is applied by receiving Christ
personally, his knowledge is of no effect.
This same principle applies to the Christian’s daily walk.
Consistent right actions are impossible without right thoughts.
Right thoughts come only from right beliefs. Right beliefs flow
only from a right heart. The “heart,” in the Biblical
sense, is our will or control center of our being.
All education is inherently religious. No one can teach in a philosophical
vacuum. In order for education to be Christian, it must follow Biblical
principles. When we teach English, Math, Science, or History we
are not merely teaching academic subjects. To be truly Christian,
even our methods must reflect Biblical principles. Teaching facts
cannot be our goal. Our goal in academic subjects, as well as Bible
teaching, is comprehension, which leads to understanding, which
leads to belief, which leads to personal application or action.
SUMMARY
At Licking County Christian Academy our goal is to
help parents build in their children a foundation and framework
for the life-long process of Christian Education. Whether in Bible,
academic subjects, or in extracurricular activities, we desire that
students develop a strong structure of principles that will support
future growth in all areas.
The Bible is a book of principles that are as true and applicable
today as they were the day they were penned. The Bible does not
address specifically every situation that we will face in life,
but it does give us a principle to guide us in every situation.
The Bible will always have the answer to every question or problem
we face. Education does not address every academic situation in
life, but it should provide the principles and tools to meet every
situation.
It is our desire at Licking County Christian Academy to not only
teach Bible and academic facts, but also teach principles that
will be the structure and framework upon which a student can build.
Christian Education is the life-long process of becoming more “conformed
to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29). By God’s grace
we want to be “partners” with the home and the church
to direct young people and adults to bear a clearer image of our
lovely Lord Jesus. |
